Website and email hosting
Website and email hosting are provided by Uberspace (Jonas Pasche, Kaiserstr. 15, 55116 Mainz, Germany). CHARUS uses Uberspace as a processor under an agreement on commissioned processing (Auftragsverarbeitung) pursuant to Article 28 GDPR.
When you access the website, Uberspace processes technical connection and request data as necessary to deliver and secure the site. If you send an email to CHARUS, Uberspace also processes the email and its contents as the provider of the CHARUS mailbox. CHARUS does not use this data for analytics, advertising or visitor profiling.
Messages and bookings
If you use the Message box, the text you enter is transmitted directly to CHARUS through the first-party Contact service hosted by Uberspace and delivered to the CHARUS mailbox. The Message function does not require your name or email address. If you include personal information in the Message, CHARUS processes it as part of your enquiry.
For security and abuse protection, the Contact service processes technical request data transiently. The service does not log Message content or raw client addresses and does not create separate persistent Message storage. Uberspace processes the website request and mail delivery as CHARUS's processor.
For booking, the email address, selected date and time and any optional booking message are not transmitted by the website itself. The booking control prepares an email in your local email application; if you send it, CHARUS processes its contents to handle the booking request and Uberspace processes the incoming email.
Processing is based on Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where necessary to respond to your request or take pre-contractual measures at your request. Other business enquiries and technical abuse protection are processed on the basis of Article 6(1)(f) GDPR; the legitimate interests are efficient business communication and secure, reliable operation. You are not legally required to provide these data. A Message may be sent without a reply address; in that case CHARUS cannot reply unless you include suitable contact details. Accepted Messages are not persistently stored by the Contact service after transfer to the mail transport. Information received in the CHARUS mailbox is retained until the matter has been conclusively handled and is then deleted unless statutory retention obligations apply or continued storage is necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
Preferences, cookies and external services
CHARUS does not use analytics, advertising trackers or marketing cookies and does not create visitor profiles.
When you explicitly select the light or dark appearance, your browser stores that preference locally under the key charus-theme. When you explicitly select English or German, it stores that preference locally under the key charus-language. These values contain only the selected preference, remain on your device and are not used for analytics or marketing.
If no explicit language choice has been stored, the website may read the browser’s preferred language to select an initial supported language. It does not persist that inferred preference.
No third-party analytics, advertising, externally hosted fonts, maps or embedded scheduling widgets are loaded.
Your rights
Subject to the applicable statutory conditions, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure and restriction of processing. Where processing is automated and based on consent or a contract, you may also have a right to data portability.
Right to object: Where processing is based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, you may object at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation.
You may exercise your rights by contacting legal@charus.com. You may also lodge a complaint with a competent data protection supervisory authority, including the authority at your habitual residence, place of work or place of the alleged infringement. The supervisory authority responsible for CHARUS in North Rhine-Westphalia is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information North Rhine-Westphalia (LDI NRW).
CHARUS does not use automated decision-making or profiling through this website.
